Winter Temperatures above Normal - Updated January 14th

The Winter has been quite mild in Polar regions this year in comparison to normal with the level of sea ice around the lowest it has been. This can all change but much of the colder air has been in the European and American regions while the Polar region has seen temperatures of up to 10 degrees above normal at times. This pattern looks set to continue for the future and above average temperatures are virtually a permanent feature of the Arctic Weather now. Should 2010 happen to bring a very warm Summer there is a real danger of the Ice reaching its lowest levels yet.
