This Winter is forecast to be very mild at times but there will be short periods of cold weather with a normal amount of frosty nights and indeed some snow on occasion especially on high ground. Snow will be short lived as has been the case over the last few years and indeed the most likely times of any snow falling this side of 2010 in Ireland are near the end of November and perhaps the week before Christmas. The rest of November and December will be mainly mild though a dry spell is forecast in the first half of December which could lead to some cold and foggy nights. As for January 2010 mild and windy weather is forecast to ring in 2010 and continue well into the month
Floods will abate somewhat over December but a renewed risk will occur toward midmonth
